1. Information Collection and Use

BoPo ("we", "our", or "the App") is developed to respect your privacy and design our app to collect only minimal data necessary to deliver your learning experience.

Optional User Accounts & Cross-Device Sync: You can practice completely anonymously without creating an account. If you choose to register (via Email/Password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple on iOS), we securely store your email address, display name, and unique user ID in Supabase to synchronize your XP, learning streak, unlocked lesson stages, and badges across devices.

Profile Avatars: If you choose to upload a custom profile picture, it is screened on-device for safety and stored in our secure storage bucket. Photo upload is entirely optional.

Local Data Storage: For guest users, all study progress, quiz scores, and settings remain on your device in local storage.

Microphone & Speech Recognition: During speaking practice drills, audio is processed ephemerally in real-time by your device's built-in operating system speech recognizer. No voice recordings or audio files are ever saved to disk or transmitted to our servers.

Advertising & BoPo Premium (100% Ad-Free): To keep phonetics education free and accessible, the free tier of the BoPo mobile app may display non-personalized ads via Google AdMob. Upgrading to BoPo Premium provides 100% Ad-Free learning with zero ads. We do not use behavioral tracking pixels, and we never track your activity across other apps or websites.

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

BoPo is suitable for learners of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Children can utilize the full phonetic curriculum anonymously offline without creating an account.

3. Account and Data Deletion

You have full ownership and control over your data. If you have created a BoPo account, you can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data directly within the mobile app:

Open the BoPo app, navigate to your Account page (Profile tab), scroll down to Session & Security, and tap DELETE ACCOUNT.

This immediately and permanently purges your authentication credentials, cloud progress, streak records, badges, and profile data from our databases.

4. In-App Purchases, Subscriptions & Web Checkout

Financial transactions for optional Premium upgrades are processed directly and securely by the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or secure Stripe web checkout. We do not receive, store, or have access to your credit card details or financial information. Device purchase status is validated securely through standard store APIs, and subscribed physical devices retain offline entitlement access.

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
